Bart's Great Clips Card

The marketing department at the home office has been busy preparing to launch a first-time ever systemwide promotion for Great Clips. It’s our $9.99 Value Card that allows customers to prepay for future haircuts at a reduced rate. (As someone who follows our company, you probably won’t be surprised to learn that this is also a first for our hair care category – yes, Great Clips is leading the way again! Okay, I’ll stop bragging.)

Obviously, this is a great deal for our customers, but it’s also a great business opportunity for our franchisees. And the reason we know this is because we did our homework – everything from field testing in our salons to customer data analysis at our home office. We really believe that these Value Cards will increase frequency and loyalty, promote higher new-customer returns and provide cash-flow flexibility for franchisees.

And we’re not alone. Several companies have had great success with value cards and have expanded their promotions to include refer-a-friend perks and other loyalty incentives. http://www.creditcards.com/credit-card-news/credit-prepaid-card-refer-friend-programs-1273.php And the opportunities seem endless when you consider social media and mobile options as a way to expand the delivery and usage of gift and value cards. Target and Starbucks are now issuing mobile phone gift cards, and Amazon customers can send a value/gift card to a friend on Facebook. http://www.foxbusiness. com/personal-finance/2011/11/07/gift-cards-go-virtual-and-mobile/

We’re excited about our $9.99 Value Card and will certainly look for opportunities to grow the program in the future. For right now, I’m confident it’s going to be a great win-win for both our customers and our franchisees.

What’s been your experience with pre-paid cards? Add a note below. I’d love to hear your ideas.
